ok I know this is an Ole Miss board but I just want to know what others think. We all know Brett Favre is going to be a NFL HALL OF FAMER when he is TRULY done, but with all his I'm retired-I'm playing-I'm retired-I'm playing does anyone other than me think that the voters for the HALL will hold this against him and not put him in on the 1st ballot.

I could see why they would do that, but I think it will come down to this season and what he accomplishes. The media will eat him alive if the Vikings don't meet expectations, but they will praise him if he gets deep in the postseason, which I think will erase most negative talk about him.

I don't think it will. Even if he has a bad run at Minnesota...I think his career as a whole will over-shadow everything that's going on now...but I could be wrong!!!

if he's doing this just to stick it to the packers then he's in football for the wrong reason's, if he's doing it because he loves what he does, thats a completely different story. Anyway whatever the case i don't think his continuous returns from retirement should be grounds for penalization, such as adding an extra year of inelegibility from what it is normaly 5 years, i think, to get into the HOF. Hypothetically speaking, lets say that he's playing because he still loves the game(this isn't my opinion, imo its the first scenario) you would be penalizing a man who loves what he does. whats the crime in that? Jo pa, Michael Jordan, Bobby cox, steve spurrier, john smoltz, Phil Jackson, bobby bowden, Ken Griffey Jr., and so on. My reasoning for naming all these sporting icons--None of these people have been or will be penalized ,Hall of Fame-wise [*bowden vacated wins-rules infraction] for doing what they love to do even if their professional career is stretched over a long period of time or if their loyalty/employment to one program or another has changed. although farve's case is different from all the others i named because of the "im definatly retired- i'm coming back" thing, He has not broken any major rules (steroid[bonds], drugs[strawberry], betting[rose] or whatever ...) to warrant any kind of penalty pertaining to entrance or elegibility to the Hall of Fame. Whatever the reasoning is for, yet again , another return-- IMO, no penalty should be issued. oh well, i say let him play if he wants to play, he knew how big of a risk this was/is to the overall appearance of his career. ya know ya gota take a fine cuisine steak off the grill at the right time or..............its burnt
