I'd like to get your thoughts on the forum. What do you think will make this message board excel?? What's gonna keep you coming back?

I think the main thing is people posting. If everyone posted a lit bit per day, this site would explode with new and active members. As for expanding the sub-forums, I have a few ideas, but I might be better to keep it simple for right now. Establish the name and than add on.
What do you think about a section to poke fun of MSU? Where people can post things about MSUs many problems. Kinda like a trash talk section aimed at MSU. And maybe also a section for the rest of the SEC? You know to keep up with Kiffens latest recruiting violation, Tim Tebows daily ESPN segment, and Bama's latest spending spree on recruits.

colreb i think you are right. once the football players start to report and generate some news, i think the board will take off. so far it is user friendly and pretty interesting.

Seriously, you need more members who aren't posting to see how obnoxious they can be like what has become the norm on Rivals and Scout! I left The Spirit about 5 years ago when it became less and less important for people to post in good taste about Ole Miss related items. After what I saw yesterday on the Grove, I'm about ready to call it quits there, as well. Those of you who are members on Rivals and who checked out the board early Friday afternoon, know what I'm talking about.
It will take time for this board to grow. You have obviously gone to a lot of trouble to get this far and from what I've seen, you are heading in the right direction. I will certainly try to participate more often and look forward to the discussions. Best of luck!

Thanks ludlow! I'm not familiar with anything that happened on the Grove. I do realize that board discussions can get out of control sometimes. Obviously, people will disagree at times which is normal.
My goal is for everyone to have constructive discussions which includes opposing viewpoints. It's alright to disagree as long as it's done with respect.
I will not tolerate any member who displays any blatant disregard for maintaining a respectful discussion. I will say, however, I feel confident that all members of this forum will conduct themselves in a professional manner.
Thanks to everyone who has done so!!!
Go Rebels!!!!!

i used to subscribe to the spirit when it was in the printed form once a week. but chuck is such a homer that it got to where you couldn't get the straight scoop anymore so i stopped taking it. i am as big an ole miss fan as there is. but if we suck or our recruits are not great i don't want anyone trying to tell me different. that's why i like these boards. we can have honest discussions about our team and hopefully get some good information about how things really are. so let's try to be as informative and honest as we can and we can all have some real fun.

Chuck is a homer but he'll be the first to tell you that he is.
I subscribe to Spirit and Rivals and I can tell you that the thing that bothers me the most about the Spirit is the collective idiocy of those who post. They will take one topic and absolutely run it into the ground and then beat it for another two weeks.
The thing that bugs me about Rivals is that Neal and Dave seem to take every chance they get to run down Chuck and Yancy with their little underhanded jabs. That gets old quick.
I think what I would like is a board where you can discuss things without the namecalling and preferably focus on actual sports-related content.
What also might be cool is a picture board, where you can post pictures from home games, away games, team functions, past games, etc. I don't know about others but I have a screensaver on my computer at work that just shows a slideshow of Ole Miss football pictures, and I am always looking to add good photos to it.

Board looks good. Good discussion is obviously the key. Think about this. I read an article a while back that discussed "the best years of a coach's career". The result was this, the period providing the most victories of the most successful college coaches was the decade of the his 50's. Could we possibly have obtained Coach Nutt at the most opportune time? Maybe his oft mentioned shortcomings as a front runner will be overcome as he enters his "prime".
