UM coach confident quartet will come back from knee injuries
By Kyle Veazey - kyle.veazey@clarionledger.com - June 30, 2009
Four Ole Miss guards suffered severe knee injuries last year, hampering the team's chances to contend in the Western Division.
But this summer, coach Andy Kennedy is close to being able to refer to those as in the past.
"Of those four, two are getting close to being cleared, one is already cleared and the fourth is doing well in his rehab," Kennedy said Monday, on a mid-summer teleconference of Southeastern Conference coaches.
The rundown: Sophomore Trevor Gaskins, the first to suffer an injury, has been cleared and is back to full motion, Kennedy said. Senior Eniel Polynice and junior Chris Warren are "close to being cleared" and Kennedy hopes to get final word on their statuses this week.
Junior Zach Graham won't be cleared until early fall, Kennedy said.
"We had the four knee injuries to four guys who were all integral parts to our team, and as a result, them having to sit out the year, three of them, it's really changed their focus," Kennedy said. "Not only do they have the natural maturation of becoming upperclassmen, but now I think they're really understanding the sense of urgency with which you need to approach the season because you never really know what's around the next corner."

We were on track for some great things last year before our legs were cut off so to speak. It really doesn't bother me as much that david huertes left us as much as malcolm white leaving us. white was going to be a force down low this coming season.

Thanks for that PR...someone was asking about Warren being back to full health, so I'll have to show him this.
