WIMBLEDON, England – Ole Miss men’s tennis player Devin Britton won his eighth straight match on grass, defeating New Zealand’s Sebastian Lavie 6-4, 7-5 Tuesday, to reach the round of 16 at Wimbledon.
“Today it was all about two guys with big serves. He (Lavie) played well,” Britton said. “I managed to take my chances in each set and come through. I’ve never played my next opponent before, but I’m enjoying playing on grass.”
The youngest ever NCAA Singles Champion will next face Tiago Fernandes of Brazil in the third round. Britton, a native of Jackson, Miss., is one of four American men’s players left in the junior singles.

I actually ran into Britton at the jackson air port back May 26. He seemed like a pretty cool guy. No one really noticed him, and i wouldn't have if i hadn't been reading an article on olemisssports.com (there was a picture of him in the article). 5 minutes tops after reading the article, and low and behold, here comes a guy decked out in sports wear and tennis racket holders(sorry, don't know the technical name for those). So i naturally had to say "your Devin from Ole miss right?" I'm proud of him (being a mississippian also), and i fully believe he's going to do big things in the pros.
